The Battles of Rhode Island & Newport is volume IX of GMT Games’ Battles of the American Revolution series. It examines the 1778 campaign through two distinct battles and scenarios that connect maneuver, timing, and battlefield command. Hex-based movement and combat model artillery, formations, morale, terrain, and the uncertainty of eighteenth-century operations without hiding the strategic situation. Players must coordinate attacks across difficult ground, preserve fragile units, and adapt when weather or command friction disrupts an otherwise sound plan.
