The Battle of the Bulge is Avalon Hill’s 1965 treatment of the German Ardennes offensive. Two commanders move formations across a hex map, account for terrain and zones of control, and resolve battles by comparing strength ratios on a combat-results table. The German player must exploit surprise and limited time to break west; the Allied player absorbs the opening shock, protects roads, and organizes a counterstroke. Variable setup and the historic imbalance create a compact operational puzzle from one of the hobby’s foundational wargame designs.
