Cretaceous Rails combines worker placement, route building, and pick-up-and-deliver play in a world where rail companies transport dinosaurs instead of passengers. A modular map creates a different prehistoric landscape each game. Players place workers to acquire contracts, improve engines, build track, and secure the resources needed to move valuable cargo. Connecting locations is only the beginning: a profitable network must reach the right dinosaurs and deliver them before a rival claims the best route or contract. Track laid for one plan can open opportunities for everyone, so expansion continually reshapes the shared economy. Engines and company improvements create longer-term specialization, while the wide range of game lengths lets the system stretch from a compact solo puzzle to a full four-player network contest. Miniatures make the unusual cargo easy to read on the table, but the strategy remains grounded in timing, logistics, and efficient action selection.
