Read the full game description

Lightning Train is a strategic bag-building railway game from Paul Dennen. Each company begins with a bag of modest chips; drawing them creates a changing set of trains, money, and special capabilities for the round. Players spend those resources to place stations, claim rail lines, acquire stronger chips, secure contracts, industrialize, go public, and deliver goods to cities across eight regions of North America. Network decisions are interactive without making every route exclusive: rivals may cooperate long enough to create access, then exploit a station or delivery before its owner can. The market shapes each company’s long-term engine, while loans and one-time development choices create pressure between acceleration and efficiency. Powerful Lightning Train tokens operate as a catch-up resource and tactical burst, helping trailing companies stay relevant. The end is triggered by progress toward the transcontinental railroad, but victory comes from total points across deliveries, infrastructure, cards, and company development. A double-sided map supports solo and two-player formats as well as the fuller three- and four-company contest.
