Martin Wallace’s Gettysburg recreates the 1863 battle with a deliberately streamlined command system and an unusual army of wooden infantry, cavalry, artillery, and order markers. Players spend action points to move formations, entrench, fire artillery, and launch attacks across a compact mounted map. Union command friction and unequal troop quality produce distinct problems for each side, while reinforcements and the three-day structure keep the battle moving without a dense traditional counter-and-chart burden.
