Colossal Cat in the Box scales the acclaimed quantum trick-taking game up for spectacle while retaining its central deduction puzzle. Number cards have no printed suit. When playing one, you declare its color and mark that number-and-color combination on the shared research board, making the claim unavailable to everyone else. Players must follow the declared lead color when their remaining possibilities allow it, yet every declaration reduces the legal states still available in hand. Before the round, each player predicts how many tricks they will win; successful bidding and connected clusters of research tokens score points, but a player who cannot legally declare a card causes a paradox and ends the round early. The edition includes the Doppler Effect and String Theory expansions alongside huge boards, tokens, and a cat miniature, while keeping the cards themselves comfortably playable.
