Sauros joins a conventional trick-taking contest to a personal tile-placement puzzle. Each trick begins with a revealed trump suit, and players follow suit with numbered dinosaur tiles; the winner keeps two of the played tiles while everyone else usually recovers one. Those prizes must then be fitted onto an asymmetric dinosaur mat, where suits, symbols, groups, and positions score in different ways. At the end of a round the mats rotate, so every player must adapt to several dinosaurs before the final scores are combined.
