Ragnarocks is an abstract area-control game from the designer of Santorini. Players guide Viking pawns in straight lines across a hexagonal board, then summon a runestone from the space they left and move it along another clear line. Every stone becomes a permanent border. As those borders connect with one another and the edge of the board, Midgard splits into smaller regions; a region containing Vikings of only one color becomes settled and scores for that clan. The basic game is a clean contest of geometry, tempo, and positional traps. The advanced game adds asymmetric mythology powers, giving each player a Norse god or creature that modifies setup, movement, summoning, scoring, or even the victory condition. Although designed first as a two-player duel, official team rules extend the system to larger groups. Fast turns conceal substantial depth: every move changes future lanes, and a single premature enclosure can hand an opponent the larger half of the world.
