Onward distils the structure of a multiplayer online battle arena into a competitive two-team board game. Each side drafts four asymmetric heroes and divides them between one or two players. Hero turns use movement, attacks, spells, and reactive casts to contest lanes, jungles, and the river; fallen monsters provide gold for a market of colour-coded items. Minions advance and siege automatically, towers guard the routes into each base, and a colossal outsider arrives as a dangerous shared objective. An initiative token determines which team shops and plans first, so timing a hero, card, or purchase can swing an entire lane. The double-sided board supports two- and three-lane maps, while sixteen heroes and forty-eight items create varied team compositions. Victory is immediate when a team destroys the opposing nexus.
