In the Shadows: Resistance in France 1943 - 1944 is a compact asymmetric card-driven game for one or two players. The Resistance builds clandestine networks, gathers resources, and attempts missions while avoiding alerts and arrests. The Occupation uses patrols, intelligence, and pressure to expose those networks and suppress public support. Multi-use cards force both sides to choose between events and operations, and the solo system preserves the cat-and-mouse tension with a dedicated opponent procedure.
