Havoc: The Hundred Years War is a card-drafting and hand-management game in which mercenary commanders compete across nine historic battles. During peace, players recruit from a face-up display or the deck, steadily shaping hands of six suits numbered one through eighteen. A player may cry “Havoc” to begin the next battle, after which contenders reveal poker-like combinations a few cards at a time and may bluff, reinforce, or withdraw. Every committed card is spent, so even a victory can leave an army depleted for the larger rewards ahead. Dogs of War can provide flexible suits, extra recruits, or recovery from the discard pile. After eight skirmishes and the final battle of Castillon, the commander with the most victory points is crowned monarch.
