How it plays

How does it play?

Lift wooden pieces from a plate balanced on a cork ball, judge every shift in weight, and stop before the whole precarious sculpture collapses.

Core mechanisms

Key systems that shape the decisions players make.

Read the full game description

Bamboleo turns a few pieces of wood and a cork ball into a wonderfully legible test of nerve. Roughly twenty-five shapes begin on a round plate that rests freely on the ball, so there is no hidden mechanism and no safe-looking piece can be trusted for long. On a turn, a player removes one piece without touching the plate; removing two stacked pieces is allowed if declared before the attempt. Every success changes the center of gravity and makes the next decision a fresh spatial puzzle. A player who abandons an attempt must return the piece and surrender one already collected, while a collapse ends the round immediately. The rules are tiny, but the interaction is physical and constant: each careful success leaves a more dramatic problem for everyone else. The player who has collected the most pieces when the plate finally falls wins.
